God’s word declares the reality behind any subject matter, it declares the reality about kingdoms, ages and dominions; who is in charge and who is not.
The word tells us that because of Adam’s offence, death reigned, to reign means to exercise dominion without permission meaning that death reigned over people in the world without their consent or permission.
Death brings along with it its fruits such as sickness, failure, poverty etc. thus we can say that sickness had dominion over people’s lives without their permission.
Take for example, a man, during a board meeting slumped and died and it was said that he had a heart attack which had never happened before, death came without informing anybody and took him away. It might not be heart attack, it could be a headache, a stroke etc, but then death came by various means and took away people without their permission thus man was helpless in the hands of death. (Source: God’s Word, Hebrews 2:14-15).
But then, the word tells us that those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life… meaning that death cannot reign over them, instead they would reign in this life over death, so if they felt a stroke on their right leg, since they are now the ones in charge they have every right to reign in that situation and refuse that pain or ailment and walk as if nothing happened.
You don’t reign until there is something to subdue, so don’t expect everything to go smooth for you as a Christian, if things go bad it is your responsibility to reign in that situation and turn it around for your good, that is what reigning kings do; they speak words of power and so must you.
Also notice, you only reign over things you are bigger than meaning the word of God has proclaimed you bigger than death and its consequences, you are bigger than sickness, pain etc, take charge and reign, don’t suffer or die like an ordinary man, speak your way out, reign over all opposing circumstances… that’s your calling!
For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)
