If you wanted to thank God, what exactly would you thank him for? For example let’s assume that your uncle paid in thirty five thousand naira into your bank account and you really needed it, how would you thank God? Chances are you would simply thank him for your uncle and for the provision of the money and that would be all, but if you were told by your uncle that on his way to the bank he was nearly robbed and he survived an accident, the contents of your thanksgiving would change, you would thank God for his life and for the safe deposition of the money. What if an angel appeared to you and told you that unknown to you and your uncle, your bank nearly caught fire, most definitely the content of your prayer would change.
Well, the point is that if you thank God with your understanding, you would be highly limited by the information you receive by your five senses which infact may be true or not.
If you were to interceed for your close friend; for him to get saved with your understanding, you would not do it adequately considering the fact that you don’t know if he was molested by a corrupt deacon and thus the person’s conscience has been seared against the gospel.
Only God knows everything, God is limitless, there is nothing hid from him- thoughts or/ and actions. To pray accurately you need his words, because he alone is fully aware of all details, thus the Father gave us his Spirit to help us in our limitations, and we ought to thank God and pray to God with words inspired by the Holy Ghost, do not short change yourself by refusing to speak in tongues, in that realm of prayer, there are no limitations and your communication is effective, if you want to live a successful life always learn to pray more in tongues, this is God’s METHOD of helping you out of your limitations, work with God and speak in tongues more often and nobody on earth would be able to place you in a box, you would be limitless!
Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities (limitations):for we know not what we should pray for as we ought:but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
