God’s word is for doing, the bible says his word is as a mirror, it shows you what you have that you never knew, for example suppose there were no mirrors in the world, and you were the only person in the world, you would probably never think you have two eyes, (and assume you never thought to feel your eyes) afterall it seems like you have only one big eye at the centre of your face, but if you look at a mirror you would change your mind, because the mirror would show you that you actually possess two eyes and not one, so you change the way you think and the way you act, you would automatically carry yourself as someone who has two eyes and it would be erroneous for you to make for yourself an eyeglass with just one big round glass surface.
Imagine also that you found out from the mirror that you had laser powers, and that you could destroy anything/ person with your eyes just by looking at it/ them for more than five seconds, you would become more careful the way you look. So the mirror shows you what you don’t have that you thought you had and what you have that you probably never had known you had(e.g. a stain on your cloth, two different colors of your shoe etc)
God’s word is a mirror, he was meant to show you what you have that you never could have thought you had (a powerful tongue, righteousness, an inheritance, a kingdom, healing, joy unspeakable, a very present help- the Holy Spirit, love etc.) and what you do not have (guilt, battles with the devil and witches, stress etc. ) and just like you would for a normal mirror, you learn to act accordingly, you change the way you think and talk and allign your actions with the word, understand that the word of God doesn’t tell you what you should try to become, he shows you who you already are, so you discipline yourself, you might make mistakes, don’t worry try again, like a child who is learning how to walk because he notices from mum and dad that his legs were meant to make him walk, if he falls while trying that doesn’t mean he should stop, he continues and one day he would start running, the same thing with every Christian you do the word continuously and definitely you would come out victorious in life.
For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.
