Understanding righteousness is very important. God declared the Christian righteous the moment he got born again, well if that was the first thing that happened to the man once he got born again, then it is important to know what righteousness means to him.
Death means more than the physical passing away of a man, it also has its effects like sickness, old age, failure etc. in other words anything that makes a thing or person ineffective and ‘wasting away’ is the effect of death because at the end that thing or person which is affected would end up dying. Alright, the bible tells us that death came as a result of one man’s sin- Adam and because of this one man, even people who did not do as much wrong as he did would suffer from death and its consequences, so a young baby can be diagnosed with a failing heart condition, but as a baby he didn’t do anything wrong, but because death is already in the world it can get a hold of him.
Sin is wrong doing (the transgression of the law), the sinner is the man that has in him the ability to only and always do (say or think) the wrong things, righteousness on the other hand is that ability given to a man by God that brings him to a class of God where he only does the right thing all the time (for more info click here and here). Meaning that for the effect of death to be paralyzed on anybody, he has to be righteous, but remember everybody in the world today were made sinners because of what one man did not because of what they did, so that tells you that everybody in the world can be made righteous because of one man and not because of what they do. Well, that one man- Jesus has come, and because of what he did, God has declared you righteous, it would be wrong for you to be subject to death or its consequences, you have been made righteous.
Walk everyday with this conscoousness that you are righteous thus sickness, failure, corruption should have no effect on you, you live in a realm of life and you administer life to others.
Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:…Nevertheless death reigned …even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam’s transgression…Therefore as by the offence of one (Adam)judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one(Jesus) the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.
